Forty percent of Houston-area households could afford to purchase a median-priced home during Q4 2022.


As housing affordability remains a challenge, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) is rolling out a new down payment assistance tool that matches eligible homebuyers with down payment assistance programs. This comes as fewer households in the Greater Houston area could afford to purchase a median-priced home in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to a year ago, according to HAR’s Housing Affordability Index.
