HOUSTON — (August 11, 2022) — Temperatures are rising along with home prices and mortgage rates, making it more challenging than ever for many households to buy a home. Housing affordability continued to decline across the Greater Houston area in the second quarter of 2022, according to the Houston Association of Realtors’ (HAR’s) Housing Affordability Index, which measures the percentage of households that can afford to purchase a median-priced, single-family home for regions and select counties in Texas.
